Tammy Powell, PCC, LLC
Counseling for Children, Adolescents, and Adults
Tammy Powell is a licensed professional clinical counselor in the state of Ohio. She received her master of arts degree in counseling from Xavier University in 2011. Tammy has over 10 years experience in the mental health field, working with children, adolescents, adults, and families.
Tammy specializes and holds a national certification in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), an evidenced-based treatment modality used for children and adolescents who have experienced a traumatic event. She also works with adults who have experienced trauma, with the use of Trauma-Focused Cognitive Processing Therapy. In addition, Tammy has been trained in Child & Family Stress Intervention (CFTSI), an evidenced-based intervention used with children and adolescents to decrease post-traumatic stress reactions and the onset of PTSD. Tammy is a member of Southwestern Ohio Critical Incident Stress Management Team (SWOCISM), a volunteer position that provides debriefings to public service workers and/or critical care providers following an incident that may be viewed as a crisis, resulting in stress and overwhelming feelings that may impede their jobs. In addition to her focus on trauma, Tammy is working to become a Registered Play Therapist (RPT). Tammy’s passion is working with adolescents who have been sexually abused, helping them move from victim to survivor by providing psycho-education, identifying their strengths and abilities, and empowering them to live up to their greatest potential. Believing that individuals can overcome traumatic events, she also recognizes the value of support systems that come from parents/guardians and caregivers, making them an integral part of the recovery process. |
